Before this pandemic, there were approximately 9,000 people employed in creative jobs in Buncombe County, and now many find themselves unemployed.

There are also close to 500 local arts organizations that have been forced to close their doors. Here’s how can help our vibrant arts community:

DONATE – If you can, make a donation to the One Buncombe relief fund, the iamavl Musician Relief Fund, and/or one of our many nonprofit arts organizations.

ATTEND – Attend virtual arts events and classes.

BUY – Support our local arts and crafts businesses! Buy gift cards or order online from one of our local businesses.

(1) Share how this is impacting you or your organization by filling out the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and American for the Arts surveys. This data is being used to advocate for small businesses, and for the arts industry.

(2) Let our state representatives know that the arts matter in North Carolina, and should be included in the state stimulus package.

(3) Help support other local creatives by sharing local events and offers.

(4) If you know of an arts professional or organization that is struggling, please make sure they know about the support resources that are available.

VOLUNTEER – Support Hands-On Asheville Buncombe and sign up for one of their volunteer opportunities.
