As of April 6, 2020, North Carolina had confirmed Coronavirus cases in 89 of its 100 counties, but none in Graham County.

Graham officials have taken precautions to insulate their county, which has no hospital, to help combat the infection’s spread.

“This is the reason that we have had to take such strong measures,” said Graham County Manager Rebecca Garland.

While that could change, Graham County has limited entry to residents and essential traffic. The county set up checkpoints at its entrances. All hotels, cabins, resorts, and other vacation rentals have been closed, except those that accommodate people with “legitimate work-related stay.

Graham County Board of Commissioners chair Dale Wiggins stated, “This is the most difficult time. No one has had to deal with this kind of emergency before. We’ll get through this. We don’t know how long, but it will pass, so we don’t want to lose sight of that.”
