Disaster Recovery Grants for Humanities Collections
The Heritage Emergency National Task Force (HENTF) a public-private partnership between FEMA and the Smithsonian Institution, is supporting response and recovery efforts of North Carolina’s arts & culture sector and the public. Recently, our partners at the National Endowment for the Humanities have brought to our attention a notice of a funding opportunity.
The NEH Chair has issued an open call for applications for Chair’s Disaster Recovery Grants for Humanities Collections, to humanities organizations that steward collections affected by Hurricane and Tropical Storm Helene and Hurricane Milton.
Grants of up to $15,000 will support emergency response and recovery activities that may include salvaging humanities collections such as rare books, documents, photographs, artwork, sculptures, historical objects, audiovisual media, and digital collections.
Also eligible to apply are preservation field services networks and consortia that support collecting institutions’ efforts to respond to and recover from emergencies impacting cultural heritage collections.
To apply, visit www.neh.gov/program/chairs-disaster-recovery-grants-humanities-collections. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until April 25, 2025.
Submit your Community Revitalization projects for UNC Grad student assistance
Graduate students enrolled in the Community Revitalization course and working with the School of Government’s Development Finance Initiative (dfi.sog.unc.edu) are current professional degree students in business (MBA), planning (MCRP), and public administration (MPA), among others.
Under the supervision of faculty and staff, students conduct market research, feasibility analysis, and financial modeling to help communities understand how they can attract private investment into community revitalization projects across North Carolina. Students work in multi-disciplinary teams over the course of a semester at no charge for local governments.
