Joining him for this special night will be his equally talented daughter, pianist, and composer Kayla Waters. A five-time Billboard and Mediabase number-one artist known for hits like “I Am,” “Zephyr,” “Full Bloom,” “Open Portals,” and “Undulation,” Kayla has made waves in the music industry. She etched her name in history as the first female pianist to dominate the charts for six consecutive weeks.

Her recent accolades include the Rising Star in Jazz award from Black Women in Jazz and the Arts Foundation of Atlanta, and the Best Jazz Artist award from The Wammies & The Musicianship in Washington, DC.

Kayla has just released a new album, Presence, a life-giving creative work alluding to the beauty of the ocean and God’s abundant love; the beautifully composed and performed new release follows her earlier albums Coevolve and Apogee.

A classically trained pianist who grew up in a jazz household, Kayla’s parents observed her innate passion for music when as early as 10 months old, she would make her way into the living room and began “playing” the family’s Brentwood piano.

This father-daughter duo’s performance will intertwine urban smooth jazz with contemporary rhythms, showcasing their exceptional artistry and creating an unparalleled sonic experience. VIP ticket holders will have a chance to arrive early (6 p.m.) to enjoy a Southern-style buffet by Asheville favorite Twisted Laurel before the 8 p.m. show. Together, Kim and Kayla Waters are set to leave an indelible mark on the hearts of those who witness their performance.

Proceeds from the event will support a new program dedicated to promoting and preserving jazz culture in Asheville. This initiative aims to provide valuable music education opportunities for aspiring musicians, ensuring the vibrancy and continuity of jazz for generations to come.
