LeBron James continues to give back to his hometown of Akron, Ohio. A few years after opening up his I PROMISE school, which provides educational support to at-risk children, the basketball legend is taking his resources to the medical industry.

The LeBron James Family Foundation recently revealed its plan to build a new primary care center in Akron called the I PROMISE HealthQuarters.

According to the foundation’s social media page, the new community health center will offer medical, dental, optometry, and mental health services for residents. The I PROMISE Heath Quarters—which is scheduled to begin construction soon—will also be equipped with an on-site lab and a reduced-cost pharmacy.

Dwayne Wade has openly supported his trans daughter Zaya Wade. Unfortunately, the world isn’t as supportive and open minded, causing the 13-time NBA All-Star and NBA Champion to fear for her safety.

“As blessed as it is for my daughter to have parents who can support her, I’m still afraid every moment she leaves the house,” Wade told CNN recently. “And not just because of gun violence, but because of the way people perceive her in this world.”

Wade also spoke out against lawmakers who won’t pass legislation that will grant access to gender-affirming health care for trans youth. In many states, trans youth are banned from sports, and Texas recently passed a law (placed on hold by the courts) that would charge parents with child abuse if they pursue gender-affirming medical care for their child.

“To me it’s a joke. This is our life. We live this. When you’re out there making rules, if you’re not experiencing them, come live a day with my daughter. Come and see how it is to walk through the world as her.”

Rania and Kenya Barris

For the second time, Blackish creator Kenya Barris has filed for divorce from his wife of 20 years, Dr. Rania “Rainbow” Barris. The producer cited irreconcilable differences when he filed on June 1, according to People magazine.

Kenya and Rania Barris have been married since 1999 and separated since 2020. Their marriage has been rocky for a while, and their efforts to reconcile have failed. Rain filed for divorce first in 2014 before withdrawing the request. Five years later, Kenya filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, but changed his mind.

Since their marriage inspired the love story of Andre and Rainbow Johnson on the show, Barris encouraged her husband not to exclude their challenging moments from the plot.

“I think you owe it to your viewers to show this,” she told Entertainment Weekly in a 2018 interview. “Because so many of the stories are situations very exact to our life, Kenya cannot help as a writer but to make the character of ’Bow more prominent and important.
