Asheville Symphony presents “New Year’s Eve with 007”
Ring in the New Year with the music of James Bond on Saturday, December 31, 2022.

The Asheville Symphony, under the baton of conductor and music director Darko Butorac, will ring in the New Year on Saturday, December 31, 2022 with favorite hits from James Bond movie favorites including Goldfinger and Skyfall.
The concert, beginning at 8 p.m. in the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in downtown Asheville, will feature powerhouse vocalists Mikki Sodergren and Jonathan Christopher along with the renowned orchestra.
“The music and songs of James Bond films have always held a special place in my heart, whether it is Billie Eilish, Adele, Paul McCartney, or Shirley Bassey,” said Maestro Butorac. “These songs were all written with the orchestra in mind, and so it made sense to create a spectacular show that would showcase the best the Asheville Symphony has to offer.”

Mezzo soprano Mikki Sodergren often performs with symphonic orchestras on both classical engagements and pops programs, including symphonies in Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Charleston, Hilton Head, and elsewhere. She has earned three Grammy nominations, including a 2021 Grammy award for performing on the recording of Dame Ethel Smyth’s The Prison.
Bermudian-Bostonian baritone Jonathan Christopher has performed in critically acclaimed productions at Lincoln Center, the Brooklyn Playhouse Theatre, and in world-renowned cabarets. He has performed in musicals and operas throughout North America, Europe, and the Caribbean, including the role of Collins in the Aruban premiere of the musical Rent, and is currently performing in the nationally touring production of Hamilton.
The ASO program spans the James Bond filmography, including Diamonds are Forever, Nobody Does It Better, Live and Let Die, and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, plus a few Bond-related surprises. Ticket prices range from $40 to $85 depending on seating section, and reduced youth and student pricing is also available.
