Asheville Holiday Parade and Events

The 66th Annual Asheville Holiday Parade takes place Saturday, November 17. The theme this year is “Silver & Snowflakes!” In keeping with the silver theme, 2012 Olympic Silver Medalists Lauren Tamayo and Manteo Mitchell will serve as Grand Marshals for the Parade. Both Lauren and Manteo will be in Pack Square Park following the parade to sign autographs.

Tamayo, who took the silver medal as part of the Women’s Pursuit Cycling Team, makes her home in Asheville, and Mitchell, one of the most decorated men’s athletes in Western Carolina University’s history, ran on a broken leg to help the men’s 4 x 400-Meter Relay Team reach silver.

Marching, drumming, dancing, prancing, singing, clogging, cycling, skating, riding, llamas, tractors, dogs, horses, angels, snowflakes, reindeer and … more! This year’s parade will be glittering with silver and snowflakes! Santa will arrive on a new spectacular sleigh with his reindeer.

After Santa waves goodbye, there’s an afternoon of free fun and entertainment with JingleFest from 1-4 p.m. at Roger McGuire Green in Pack Square Park. There will be a bounce house and other inflatables, plus hot cider and goodies, and some good old-fashioned caroling. Enjoy a special performance by Asheville High School’s Marching Band, and be entertained by dance troupes from the parade.
