Ethics & Sin: When Good People Do Bad Things
Staff Reports
“Ethics & Sin: When Good People Do Bad Things” or “What ‘sin’ means to one ethical humanist” will be presented by Andrew Reed at the September 19 meeting of the Ethical Society of Asheville, 2:30 p.m. at the Botanical Gardens Visitor Center, 151 W.T. Weaver Blvd. Mr. Reed says, “Bad things don’t just happen to good people; good people do them. And when they do, we call it a mistake, an error of judgment, a crime, or some other favorite euphemism, when what we really mean is sin.”
Reed, a writer and editor, is a lifelong Unitarian, a member of the Ethical Society of Asheville, and a longtime community volunteer who sinned and lived to tell about it. In the process he learned something about sin and redemption, insights he will share with us. A discussion period will follow the presentation. All are welcome!
