Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church Celebrates 110 Years of Faith, Fellowship, and Service
Commemorating a rich legacy of worship, ministry, and dedication.

For more than a century, Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church has stood as a beacon of faith, hope, and community in western North Carolina.
On Sunday, August 30, 2026, the congregation will celebrate its 110th Church Anniversary, commemorating a rich legacy of worship, ministry, and service that has impacted generations of families since its founding in 1916.
The anniversary celebration will culminate with a special worship service at 3 p.m., featuring Pastor William Hamilton of New Vision Baptist Church as the guest preacher. All members of the community are warmly invited to join Pine Grove as the congregation reflects on God’s faithfulness throughout its history and looks forward to a future of continued ministry.
For 110 years, Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church has remained steadfast in its mission to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ while serving the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the Asheville community. Throughout the decades, the church has weathered seasons of change while remaining rooted in biblical principles, compassionate outreach, and a commitment to strengthening families and uplifting the community.
The church has long been recognized as more than a place of worship. It has served as a gathering place during times of celebration and challenge, providing spiritual guidance, community support, and opportunities for fellowship across generations. From nurturing young people and supporting seniors to partnering with local organizations and engaging in community ministry, Pine Grove has continued to fulfill its calling as the hands and feet of Christ.

Leading the congregation is Rev. Leslie A. Hines, who has faithfully served as pastor since November 10, 1985. A native of Polk County who was raised in Asheville, Pastor Hines has provided consistent and compassionate leadership while honoring the church’s rich heritage and guiding its continued growth. Under his leadership, Pine Grove has strengthened its ministries, expanded Christian education, and remained a vital presence within the Asheville faith community.
As Pine Grove celebrates this historic milestone, the anniversary is not simply a reflection on the past but a celebration of God’s enduring faithfulness and the congregation’s commitment to future generations. Members and friends will gather to honor the countless pastors, deacons, trustees, ministry leaders, and faithful members whose dedication and sacrifice helped build and sustain the church over the past 110 years.
“This anniversary is a testament to God’s grace and the unwavering faith of those who came before us,” said church leaders. “We celebrate our history with gratitude while embracing the opportunities God has prepared for the future.”
The 110th Church Anniversary promises to be a joyful afternoon of worship, music, fellowship, and thanksgiving as Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church honors its past, celebrates its present, and recommits itself to serving God and the community for generations to come.
Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church is located at 11 Pine Grove Ave. in Asheville.
