2026 Black Dollar Days Initiative
Gamma Gamma Omega Sorority invests more than $4,500 in Black-owned businesses.

The Gamma Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, demonstrated its commitment to economic empowerment by investing in local Black-owned businesses during the 2026 Black Dollar Days initiative.
Black Dollar Days is a signature economic empowerment campaign that encourages members of the sorority to intentionally support Black-owned businesses through purposeful spending. The initiative reflects the sorority’s long-standing commitment to building generational wealth, strengthening local economies, and promoting sustainable entrepreneurship within the communities it serves.
Throughout the month of June, members of Gamma Gamma Omega embraced the challenge by shopping locally, using Black-owned professional services, and dining at neighborhood restaurants. Every purchase represented an investment in small businesses that helped drive economic growth and create opportunities throughout the Asheville area.
Collectively, chapter members reported spending more than $4,500 to support a diverse group of entrepreneurs and business owners, including Kristal Woods, Bubba’s BBQ, Becky’s Place, Sistas on Montford, KB Salads, Phynese’s Salon, Curls by Co: Corrine Hines, Sola Salons, Big Bubba J’s Barbeque, Good Hot Fish, Sunny Hot Subs and Wings, Ervin Hunter, D Doc Loc, Daddy D’s Soul Food, Lonnies, and MC Therapy.
The chapter’s participation reflects Alpha Kappa Alpha’s international commitment to supporting Black entrepreneurship while encouraging members to make intentional purchasing decisions that have a lasting economic impact. By choosing to “Wear Pink, Spend Green, and Buy Black,” members transformed everyday spending into meaningful community investment.
“Supporting Black-owned businesses is more than a one-month campaign—it is an opportunity to strengthen our communities by investing in local entrepreneurs who create jobs, provide essential services, and contribute to our economic vitality,” said Terry Bellamy, President of Gamma Gamma Omega Chapter. “We are proud of our members for embracing this initiative and demonstrating that collective action can make a measurable difference.”
Gamma Gamma Omega encourages the community to continue supporting Black-owned businesses throughout the year. Every purchase helps local businesses grow, expand their reach, and continue serving the community for generations to come.
Economic empowerment remains one of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s cornerstone initiatives, and Gamma Gamma Omega is honored to do its part in building stronger communities—one purchase at a time.
