Taraji P. Henson & Jenifer Lewis slam the Met Gala; Nia Long confronts Lionsgate over salary; Nicky Campbell disrespects Dionne Warwick.
A Look at Entertainment
by T.J. Moore –
As the best and brightest of entertainment and athletics climbed the Met steps in custom-made gowns and eclectic and eccentric attire, actresses Jenifer Lewis and Taraji P. Henson called out the celebs in attendance at the annual affair.
The 2026 Met Gala may have delivered some of the most stunning looks of the year, but the conversations circling around the sponsor and the co-chairs of this year’s gala have people truly divided.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren served as honorary co-chairs, and the dichotomy of the event wasn’t lost on many working-class viewers. The vision of the entertainment industry all gussied up for an event backed by one of the world’s richest men, while everyday Americans scratch and claw to survive firings and cuts to essential social programs, was hard to ignore.
Henson was first to sound off with a strong opinion ahead of the world-famous Met Museum’s fundraiser.

According to Variety, Henson commented on influencer Meredith Lynch’s Instagram post questioning why some in Hollywood were still planning to attend.
“I am so confused by some ppl that are going. I am just like WTF ARE WE DOING!?!?!?!,” the comment read.
She wasn’t through though.
Henson reshared a story on Instagram slamming Bezos for owning a $500 million super yacht while workers in Amazon warehouses face precarious conditions, low wages, and high injury rates. She captioned her post simply, “Enjoy the MET.”
Lewis chimed in with a song that was more poignantly interrogating than entertaining.

2026 Met Gala: A Beautiful Disaster
Lewis, 67, took to Instagram to deliver her full assessment.
“Okay, so I hadn’t seen any of it,” she began. “I had been running around all day, and my girlfriend called and said, ‘Jenifer, they showed up anyway.’”
She then sat at her piano and kept going.
“They cut nearly 30,000 jobs and gutted The Washington Post. They showed up anyway? Posturing and posing, hoping to be the most. They cut $1 billion in funding for children’s nutrition. And there they all were, vying for the next position. We’re at war, and so many people are dying.”
She continued, asking, “How much fame do we need, y’all? How much more fame?”
The long-awaited Michael Jackson biopic shattered records in its opening week, and some off-screen drama has ensued. Nia Long is reportedly heading to mediation with Lionsgate over a major pay discrepancy.
Nia Long Confronts Lionsgate
Nia Long talks about playing Michael Jackson’s mother in “Michael,” the time she met the real Michael Jackson, and getting his mom’s reaction to the film.
At the heart of the dispute is a “favored nations” clause in Long’s contract designed to ensure equal pay among co-stars. According to Long, her salary does not reflect the conditions of the clause.
Long reportedly learned that her male co-stars, Colman Domingo and Miles Teller, received significantly higher payouts than she did. Despite the favored nations agreement intended to create pay equity among the lead cast, the discrepancy has led the 55-year-old actress to confront the studio, with talks of taking the matter to formal mediation if a resolution isn’t reached.
There are journalists, and there are influencers, and sometimes when influencers are invited to events, their lack of experience and polish shows. Once again, an influencer disrespects a living legend on the red carpet. This time it’s the iconic Dionne Warwick. Social media influencer Nicky Campbell was the culprit.
Known for his quick, blunt, red‑carpet commentary, Nicky posted an Instagram Reel about Dionne, breaking down her Billboard Women in Music look. He commented on her choice of footwear and referred to the legend using the B-word while doing it.

Ebony Brown says, “We do not play ’bout Dionne Warwick!”
The internet erupted and commenced to drag Campbell for his unnecessary viral commentary. Fans, celebs, and other influencers jumped into the comments to defend Dionne and call out the disrespect.
Actress Amber Riley wrote, “Yea. You’ve lost your mind, dear. We’re not letting this one slide. That’s a legend and we don’t call elders the B word.”
Stylist J. Bolin added, “I respect your fashion thoughts! But no disrespect will be given to our elders, queens, or Black women! Simmer down!”
Fans kept it even simpler: “Delete this,” “The disrespect is crazy,” and “You need to put respect on the name Dionne Warwick.”
