The “Bill & Bernie” Tour

I just experienced the most exhilarating afternoon of the era….

Two of the most renowned orators and verbal stimulators of our nation’s 21st century aroused a crowd of three to four thousand locals and visitors Asheville’s Civic Center arena on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

It was a landmark and encyclopedic presentation of the dire plight of our nation and an inspiring call to action to remedy and return the country to a government by the people, of the people, and for the people—not the oligarchs who are now in charge. Some of you were likely there among the enthusiastic crowd who bought the whole package and were stimulated beyond belief.

Independent Vermont Senator Sanders is legendary for his ability to speak truth to power and to challenge the status quo, now at an unprecedented low level. Bishop Barber can stir up and energize an audience in the great tradition of Black preachers, and as a “warm up” speaker for the inspiring Senator he can’t be topped.

It was a stunning dual presentation beyond what any of us had dreamed. Apparently, Sanders is continuing his “Fight the Oligarchy” tour during the Congressional August break.

William Barber is a long-time North Carolinian and noted social activist, co-chair of the Poor People’s Campaign and founding director of the Center for Public Theology and Public Policy at Yale.

I’m not sure if Barber will accompany Sanders on the whole tour, but the “Bill and Bernie” duo is an unprecedented dog-and-pony show and if it comes within a hundred miles of you do everything you can to be there! Zowie!

What an extraordinary experience!
