Celebrating Exceptional North Carolinians
Several North Carolinians inducted into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.

In June 2025, Governor Josh Stein inducted several North Carolinians into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for their contributions to our state.
“I am proud to honor this group of outstanding North Carolinians who have made important contributions to our state and its people,” said Governor Stein. “They exemplify the best of North Carolina through their storied careers in government, education, and advocacy.”
Congratulations to Representative Alma Adams, former Duke Energy CEO Lynn Good, District Attorney Spencer Merriweather, former state Senator Jeff Tarte, Bishop Dwayne Walker, retired firefighter Carl Bailey, and brave Charlotte Firefighters: Captain Nathan Jones, Justin Barringer, William Costello, and Jonathan Moore.
Also inducted were Wilmington Police Chief Donny Williams, Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough, Maggie Kane, Karen Amspacher, Dr. Otis Smallwood, Reuben Blackwell, Ricky Hurtado, Chavi Koneru, and Phil Ford.
