Impeach Trump for Bypassing Congress on War with Iran

Representative Al Green Introduces H.Res.537.

Rep. Green accused Trump of “disregarding the separation of power, devolving American Democracy into an authoritarian government, and usurping the congressional power to declare war.”

Rep. Al Green’s remarks on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on June 24, 2025.

The representative continued, saying, “I take no delight in what I’m doing. I do this because I love my country. I do it because I understand that the Constitution is going to be meaningful or it will be meaningless.”

In March, Rep. Green was censured after shaking his walking cane at the president and shouting during Trump’s presidential address. This is his fourth attempt to have Trump impeached.

The resolution failed to pass with 344 Republicans voting against the call to impeach Trump and 79 Democrats voting for the resolution. House Democrats have twice impeached Trump during his first term, only for him to be acquitted by the Senate.
