Ronald Rand will celebrate his 25th year touring in his spell-binding performance as Harold Clurman, the Elder Statesman of the American Theatre, in his celebrated solo play, Let It Be Art!
The North Carolina premiere of his stage play takes place Friday, April 25, 2025 at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, 225 W. State Street, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20; youth below the age of 17 admitted for $15.

The moment Ronald Rand takes the stage as Harold Clurman in his famous one-man play, Let It Be Art!, audiences are taken on an unforgettable journey to New York City, Paris, and Hollywood. Through Clurman’s humor, courage, and inspiration, you’ll meet many of the vibrant luminaries of the 20th century, including Stella Adler, Aaron Copland, Constantin Stanislavsky, Marlon Brando, Katharine Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and witness the creation of America’s most influential acting company, the Group Theatre.
Rand’s performance has been heralded across twenty states, receiving three critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway productions. He has performed Let It Be Art! in 26 countries, at over a hundred theaters, art centers, colleges and universities on five continents, and representing the US in the Theatre Olympics in India. Recent performances include Iceland, Greece, Sri Lanka, and at Kenya’s National Theatre.
Art of Transformation Workshop
Rand will be leading his “Art of Transformation” workshop at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts on Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m.
Step into a journey of creativity, self-discovery, and transformation in this dynamic 90-minute workshop. Through a blend of improvisation, poetry, song, and energizing movement exercises, you’ll explore the art of acting and uncover the joy of creative expression. Rand’s workshop introduces some of the forty tools on Stanislavsky’s original “Method of Physical Actions” acting chart, and each participant will receive their own copy. Rand’s exercises guide you to connect deeply with your creative spirit to expand your vision and achieve your dreams.

About Ronald Rand
Ronald Rand has dedicated his life to “building bridges of understanding and enrichment” through his hundreds of performances and master workshops. An acclaimed stage and film/TV actor, he has starred in several plays Off-Broadway and across America, and has appeared in more than two hundred films and TV shows.
He is the librettist of IBSEN, the first opera ever written about the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen currently under consideration by major opera houses around the world, and the screenwriter of Group Paradise, the first film written about the Group Theatre of the 1930s, soon to become a major feature film.
Rand is the recipient of four Fulbright Awards. He teaches through the Fulbright Program as a guest professor in Malaysia, Greece, Uruguay, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. He has taught for more than 35 years at universities, colleges, academies, theater festivals, and acting schools around the world. He was an Adjunct Professor of Theater at Pace University, University of North Alabama, and Northern Illinois University.
He is the founder and publisher of The Soul of the American Actor online newspaper, now in its 26th year. He is the author of three books, Solo Transformation on Stage, Acting Teachers of America, and Create! which includes interviews with Carol Burnett, Ben Vereen, Alec Baldwin, Chaka Khan, Christopher Plummer, Ellen Burstyn, Chita Rivera, Katherine Dunham, and numerous others.
About Harold Clurman
One of America’s greatest directors, he co-founded The Group Theatre. Clurman was the award-winning director of forty of the most important plays in Broadway history. He directed the national tour of A Streetcar Named Desire with Anthony Quinn and Uta Hagen. He has also written several books.
