Sanctuary Reentry Restoration Celebration Service
The public is cordially invited to attend the reentry celebration service for St. James AME Church.

This special service will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 3 p.m. at St. James AME Church, 44 Hildebrand Street in Asheville.
Keynote Speaker for this event will be the Right Reverend Bishop James Levert Davis, Presiding Prelate, Second Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Host Pastor is Rev. Brent La Prince Edwards, M.Div.
“St. James belongs to the community, and this service is to honor the support given by the community, individuals, the Dogwood Health Trust Foundation and other organizations who have assisted in making this huge project become a reality,” said Rev. Edwards.
“It is also our public statement to the community and city of Asheville and Buncombe County that we believe in community partnerships and exist to serve. We want the city and county to know we are not a solo project but instead are here to work hand in hand in partnerships that will make our city and county and even better place to live meeting the needs of its people. We’re better together!”
St. James AME was founded in 1887 (the current sanctuary was built in 1924) and has been a significant part of the life history of Asheville ever since.
