Masks of Love
Solidarity and community, that is what this group is about.
Masks of Love has created a system for home sewers and other volunteers to get much needed face masks to medical workers and others in need of them.
The new group has come together to use local skills and talents to make the things our healthcare workers need to keep them safe.
Masks of Love is taking orders for professional and citizen masks. They have an elaborate sanitizing and distribution process to get these were they are needed.
50% of all masks are donated to those in need. This ranges from healthcare workers and first responders on the front line, to homeless shelters, medical missions, clinics for the underserved, and more.
The other 50% are distributed based on need to our community, with suggested donations which will allow them to continue to produce masks for as long as they are needed. Those who cannot afford masks, will be given masks, without question.
The money raised through the group’s GoFundMe drive will pay for materials and labor. 100% of those funds will be turned back into our community.
Do you need a mask? Go to the form at www.masksoflove.org/mask-store.html to order masks. Every donation over the suggested amount helps put masks in the hands of those who can’t afford them.
Sewers, Start Your Machines!
If you have a sewing machine and know how to use it, Masks of Love could use your help. Go to www.masksoflove.org/for-sewers.html to find patterns and instructions for volunteers.
Learn how to make the Citizen Mask 2 (a traditional, flat, trim-fold mask style). This webinar, organized by Marisol Jimenez of the Coping with Corona Collective, is now on YouTube! In it, Geraldine Dinkins demonstrates how to sew a cloth mask.
