Greenworks Day of Service
Asheville Greenworks honors the history of Asheville and of Martin Luther King Jr. by spending a morning in service and in community together in the historic East End/Valley Street neighborhood. Join in a roadside cleanup on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in preparation for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March and Rally. Please dress for the weather in clothing that may get a little dirty, and wear closed-toe shoes. Light breakfast will be served.

Environmental Injustice: Race, Class and Climate Change
Join us for the 10th Annual Kenilworth Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. taking place Monday, January 20, 2020 at Kenilworth Presbyterian Church (123 Kenilworth Rd. Asheville, NC 28803). A community potluck takes place from 5–6:30 p.m. in Kenilworth Center at 4 Chiles Ave., directly behind the church, followed at 6:30 by the program in the sanctuary.
The keynote speaker will be William Barber, III, who will address the disproportionate impact of environmental disaster and climate change on the poor and people of color. Barber earned his JD from UNC School of Law in Chapel Hill. The discussion will be moderated by Justin Hinton, weekend morning anchor and reporter for News 13 WLOS.
