Asheville Community Theatre will present two performances by Bright Star Touring Theatre, a professional theatre company based in Asheville, as a part of its Saturdays at ACT Family Series.

On Saturday, February 11, Aesop’s Fables (best for ages 3-10) will take the stage at 10 a.m. followed by Heroes of the Underground Railroad (best for ages 8 and up) at 11:30 am. Tickets are $5 for each show and are available for purchase at the door only. The Box Office will open an hour prior to each show.

Immediately following the performance of Aesop’s Fables, audience
members are invited to meet the actors in the ACT lobby. Light snacks
will be provided free of charge.

Susan Harper of Asheville Community Theatre said, “These are the
perfect shows for a family to enjoy together. It’s so nice to see
grandparents and grandkids, or moms and daughters, or even groups of
friends enjoying affordable family theatre together.”

Aesop’s Fables is a fast-paced, high-energy showcase of Aesop’s
Greatest Hits. From “The Fox and the Grapes” and “The Tortoise and the
Hare” to “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” and “The Lion and the Mouse,” these
animal-filled adventures focus on honesty, compassion, hard work and
kindness.

Heroes of the Underground Railroad has been performed everywhere from
schools across America to the National Underground Railroad Freedom
Center. Join Harriet Tubman, Levi Coffin, Henry “Box” Brown, John
Parker, and more in an empowering look at the figures behind America’s
Underground Railroad. From the secret signs along the routes to the
abolition movement, this play leaves few stones unturned.
