Approximately 100 Buncombe County high school seniors will be honored Saturday, January 26th, at a graduation ceremony at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. Superintendent Cliff Dodson will give the commencement address. The graduation program is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

The graduates will represent all school attendance areas of Buncombe County. Some of these students will immediately enroll in colleges while others plan to enter the workforce as soon as possible. Dr. Barbara Parker, Director of Secondary Education, explains that the mid-year graduation offers high school seniors another option in their pursuit of obtaining a high school diploma.

This is the third year that Buncombe County Schools has offered its seniors a mid-year graduation. The number of graduates increased last year to about 100. The first graduating class totaled 38 students. In the event of inclement weather, the mid-year graduation will be rescheduled for January 27th.
