Racial Intimidation Hits Another Family
First Leicester – now Black Mountain!
By Monroe Gilmour
Black Mountain residents Kimberly Briscoe and her four children were targeted during the week of October 4 with racial intimidation, a vulgar and brazen death threat in her own yard, paint balls shot at the house during the night, and an apparent break-in attempt. The harassment is similar to that that has beset the Hodge family in Leicester.
The police apparently do have a suspect and a witness to the threat, though no arrest has yet been made.
The Urban News joins the WNC Citizens for an End to Institutional
Bigotry in reaching out to the Briscoe family with messages, letters,
and visits, to show the family that the public supports them and let
them know they are not alone. Concerned citizens are urged to send
letters of support to Ms. Kimberly Briscoe, 213A Old US 70 East, Black
Mountain, NC 28711.
The first part of a three-part Race Dialogue will be held at the
Black Mountain Town Hall. For more information, call Roberta Madden
