Story Trails of North Carolina

Book Walk programs across the state.

Transylvania Parks & Recreation Complex

These programs are a wonderful family-friendly activity that promotes early literacy development and outdoor adventures.

Using pages from a deconstructed children’s book, a story is displayed along trails or walking paths on poster boards, attached to fences, or encased in outdoor frames. Pages are often accompanied by activity prompts and questions.

The Story Trails of North Carolina only includes programs that are active and ongoing. Although it would be great to include them all, temporary or pop-up programs are difficult to maintain over time.
