Water Advisories
Emergency measures due to the impacts of Tropical Storm Helene.
Boil Water Advisory
The water consumers of City of Asheville Water Resources Department, in Buncombe County are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to weather conditions generated by Tropical Storm Helene.
Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system. There is the potential for temporary loss of water service.
All customers are advised to boil water (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation). Those customers without power are advised to use bottled water for the purposes mentioned above.
Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
Limit Your Water Use
Water customers are strongly urged to conserve water whenever possible. This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued.
The City of Hendersonville is responding to many urgent situations including operating the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants under extraordinary circumstances.
Hendersonville water customers are asked to voluntarily reduce non-essential water use. The water treatment plant is currently operating, but intake capacity has been reduced, due to the Mills River intake being disabled by the storm. Personnel will work to restore the intake once crews can safely access the infrastructure.
The City of Hendersonville team is working to respond to unprecedented circumstances and appreciate your patience and cooperation. Additional updates will be sent via the City’s notification system and posted at www.hvlnc.gov/flooding when they are available.
