How Long Does COVID-19 Virus Last On Various Surfaces?

Coronavirus can live for up to 72 hours on hard surfaces, while droplets can live in the air for three hours.

72 hours (3 days) on Plastic
48 hours (2 days) on Stainless Steel
24 hours on Cardboard
4 hours on Copper
3 hours in the Air

Infection is theoretically possible but unlikely after remaining on any surface after a few days. The virus decreases rapidly over time on each of these surfaces.

This includes things like kitchen counters, door handles and, hand rails.

Reminder: Don’t touch your face, wash your hands. Doorknobs, light switches, faucet handles, toilet levers, TV remotes, and cupboard doors should be cleaned every day to stop the risk of spread.
