Asheville Parks & Recreation Announces Fall Athletic Programs
Asheville Parks & Recreation is committed to providing quality programs in a safe environment for everyone in our community.
Emphasis is placed on fair play and sportsmanship, and a variety of team and individual sports programs, leagues and events for youth and adults are offered. To that end, Parks & Rec is offering a broad line-up of athletic programs this fall. For youth and adults and every level of experience from expert to novice, the offerings include:
Youth Basketball Training
Need to brush up on your hoops skills to get ready for the league? This free program will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. August 24 through September 30, 2021. Limited spots are available, so advance registration is required (do so early.)
Youth Basketball
For youth in grades K-8 and divisions by age group Asheville Parks and Rec and Black Mountain Parks & Rec have partnered for the annual co-ed youth basketball league. Registration begins September 27, 2021, practices begin November 29, 2021, and games begin January 8, 2022. All teams will be created by a blind draw and each team will have one practice and one game per week. Cost for the season is only $10.
Girls Volleyball
Registration opens September 1 for girls open play volleyball for ages 11 and up. The program is free and runs October 12 through November 23, 2021 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 pm. All equipment is provided.
Adult Flag Football
A dual-gendered league with Upper, Middle, and Lower divisions for all skill levels. Registration opens September 24, 2021 and games will be played Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between October 2021 and February 2022. Cost is $600 per team plus $25 for each non-City of Asheville resident.
Adult Basketball
This dual-gendered league with Upper, Middle, Lower, and new Recreational Division has a spot for everyone whether you’re a star or just want to shoot some hoops. Registration opens November 1, 2021 and games will be played Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from November through March 2022. Cost is $600 per team plus $25 for each non-City of Asheville resident.
