by Dr. Ronnie L. McCray –

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

My name is Dr. Ronnie L. McCray, and I am deeply honored to introduce myself as the new pastor of New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist church here in the Southside community. My wife, Corrine, and I are excited to join this vibrant and welcoming congregation, and we look forward to becoming an integral part of life in Asheville.

We come to you with hearts full of gratitude and anticipation. Over the past 34 years, I have had the privilege of serving in Brunswick and Wake Counties, NC. However, I can honestly say that I feel especially called to serve here in Southside. During the recent challenges brought on by Hurricane Helene, I witnessed firsthand the strength, warmth, and faith that define this community. I am eager to build on that strong foundation as we walk together in faith.

At New Mount Olive, our mission is simple yet profound: to love God, love our neighbors, and share the message of hope and salvation found in Jesus Christ. We believe the church is not just a place, but a people—gathering together to worship, grow in faith, and serve others. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, we welcome you to experience the love, grace, and fellowship of our congregation.

In the coming months, we look forward to meeting many of you, whether in the church building, community events, or just around town. My wife and I are committed to serving not only within the walls of the church, but also in the broader community. If you have questions, prayer requests, or simply want to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to serve and build meaningful relationships that strengthen our community.

As we embark on this new chapter, New Mount Olive invites you to join us for Family and Friends Day on Sunday, December 1, 2024. We also welcome you to grow in the Word with us each Sunday—starting with Sunday School at 10 a.m., followed by Worship Service at 11 a.m.

Thank you for your warm welcome to the Southside community. We are excited to experience the presence of the Father as we embrace a new heart and a new spirit. With God’s guidance, I believe we accomplish great things for His kingdom.

Blessings and peace to you all.
