Reverend Brian K. Scott was officially installed as Senior Pastor of Hill Street Baptist Church on Sunday, September 1, 2019.
A native of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Scott was ordained by the Enoree River Baptist Association of Greenville, SC, and licensed to the ministry by Old Pilgrim Baptist Church of his hometown in 1990. He received an Associate’s degree in Religious Studies from Mid-Atlantic Bible College of Spartanburg, SC, and a BS in Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University of Central South Carolina. Wanting to enrich his spirituality and knowledge of religions, Rev. Scott obtained a Master of Divinity Degree in theological studies from Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, SC.
Reverend Scott joins a notable list of ministers whose spiritual guidance enfranchised the region’s African American communities: Reverend E. W. Dixon 1932–1950; Dr. Nilous M. Avery 1954–2002; and Rev. Dr. Keith A. Ogden, 2003–2017. Their leadership motivated their congregants to share God’s grace, love, and be of service to the greater western North Carolina region.
