Women’s Empowerment Conference
August 25, 26 & 27
Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church announces its Women’s Empowerment Conference to be held on August 25 from 4 to 9 p.m., August 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and August 27 from 3 until 6 p.m. Hostesses for this event are First Lady Regina Blount, and Rev. Gwen Jones from New French Baptist Church of Pisgah Forest, NC. Other speakers are also slated for this exciting event sponsored by the Mud Creek Baptist Association. Classic Car Show
Saturday, August 26
Presented by Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 68 Haywood Street, uptown Asheville, across from the Civic Center. Motorcycles, cars and trucks welcome! $10 entry fee. Benefits go to Children and Youth Ministry. Trophies will be awarded for: Best in Show, Best Bike, Best Muscle Car, Best Truck / 4 x 4, and People’s Choice. Judging will be done by the attendees! Fruit of the Spirit Service

St. James A.M.E. Church will present the Fruit of the Spirit Service and event at 4 p.m. Mistress of Ceremonies is Renee White. Speakers include members from area and regional churches. Groundbreaking Ceremony
Sunday, September 24
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Education and Administration Building takes place at 4 p.m. at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. This will be an historic event for one of the oldest minority churches in Asheville. Host minister will be Rev. Dr. Nilous Avery II of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Salisbury and President of the General Baptist State Convention, along with his choir and congregation. Celebration begins at 4 p.m. at New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 2 Herman Street in Asheville.

Celebrating 150 Years of God’s Faithfulness: 1867 – 2017
Friday, October 20
Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church, located at 146 Pine Street in Asheville, will celebrate its 150th church anniversary. A banquet will be held on Friday, October 20 at 6 p.m. at the Asheville Event Centre, located at 291 Sweeten Creek Road. The keynote speaker will be Asheville native and Civil Rights attorney, James “Bo-Bo” Ferguson. Ticket donation is $35.
