Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Asheville Celebrates 135th Anniversary
Under the spiritual guidance of Reverend Dr. John H. Grant, trustees, deacons, and members, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the church’s 135th anniversary on Sunday, November 15, 2015 during the morning worship at 11 a.m. Reverend Dr. Leonard T. King from Akron, Ohio will be the guest speaker.
Reverend Dr. John H. Grant is the fifth pastor in Mt. Zion’s long history, having served the church and community since 1989. Dr. Grant is called “The Visionary,” and the central thrust of his vision and ministry is leading the church in teaching and witnessing to the gospel. Understood holistically, this commitment to Christ was the main motivation for the organization in 1997 of Mt. Zion Community Development, Inc. (MZCD), one of the signature accomplishments of his vision for up-building and transforming our community.
The public is invited to attend the 135th church anniversary celebration. Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church is located at 47 Eagle Street in downtown Asheville.
