The Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Asheville and Buncombe County will host its 31st annual Prayer Breakfast at the Grove Park Inn and Resort on Saturday, January 14. The breakfast is the most widely attended and diverse gathering in Asheville, attracting more than 1,100 citizens of all racial groups each year on the national holiday weekend honoring Dr. King. The Saturday morning event features a nationally known keynote speaker and the Celebration Choir, as well as recognition of the winner of the annual Martin Luther King Award.

In addition to the prayer breakfast, the MLK Association hosts a Youth
Awards ceremony honoring one or more youth winners with a college
scholarship, a Peace March and Rally in Pack Square Park, and a
Candlelight Service to honor individuals and organizations that
exemplify the spirit of Dr. King.

and open to the public.
