Mayor Bellamy has proclaimed September 11, 2006 as PEACE ON EARTH, PEACE WITH EARTH DAY, encouraging citizens to reflect on peace and nonviolence and act “in a compassionate, nonharming manner within human society, towards other than human life, and to the earth itself.”
On September 11, 1906, Mahatma Gandhi’s nonviolent peace and justice movement was born. Join in the celebration of how the world could be if we followed Gandhi’s lead and recognized the Truth that we are one — an interdependent community of life, with each individual deserving of life, respect, honor, and love.
Join us on Monday, September 11, from 5:30 to 9:00 pm, Pritchard Park in Asheville, continuing at the 1st Presbyterian Church for Music, Poetry, Brief Comments, Potluck Meal.
