Asheville Income disparities
- Living Wage: $10.09
- Median Home Cost: $245,000
- 1 BR Apartment: $900
Median household income in the city of Asheville is around $42,300. The median income for “black households” is $30,000.
Census found Asheville is 79 percent white and 13 percent black. African Americans represent 52 percent of the population living in subsidized housing.
People can’t afford to purchase homes in Asheville. Police, Firemen, Teachers and Educators, etc.
There have always been public restrooms with signs on the door indicating Men, Women, or Single Family restrooms. Now you have people in North Carolina who were born in the Imago Dei (“image of God”) with a male or female anatomy who have decided that they have the right to use the restroom of their choice.
Instead of fighting for a living wage in North Carolina, better job opportunities with benefits while ensuring qualified black men and women have the same opportunities to become CEO’s, COO’s, General Manager’s, and Supervisors as their white brethren and sisters, they are fighting over the right to pee and crap in the restroom of their choice! #SMH
