Man Breaks Into Home, Sets Up for the Holidays
Brooklyn, NY – An elderly woman who was visiting family over Christmas returned home to find a stranger had moved into her apartment – and made himself at home by hooking up his XBox, drinking her wine, and making meals.
82 yr. old Joyce King’s home was broken into
during the holidays.
Joyce King, 82, was on vacation for ten days but came back to find
evidence that someone had broken into her apartment through a window
that leads to the fire escape.
Ms. King, who lives alone in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, said the burglar
left behind evidence of his visit including a bag of marijuana. He had
also fried some eggs, drank two bottles of wine, and slept in the
woman’s bed.
Ms. King told CBS New York, “If I would have met him, I would have
screamed, tenants would think I’m crazy.” Her next-door neighbors heard
noises coming from the apartment but assumed that Ms. King had returned
home.
Police have since arrested a man from the Bronx, Toniquek Todman, 22,
who was believed to have once lived in the building and was seen
loitering. He is facing charges of burglary and trespassing.
