Support a child in learning to read.

Support students in learning to read through Read to Succeed’s tutoring program.

One of the best ways to support a child’s curiosity is by teaching them to read at an early age.

In the US, two out of every three 4th-grade students do not read at grade level.

There is a literacy crisis occurring in our communities. Many children enter kindergarten already behind in their reading, and research shows that students not reading on grade level by the end of third grade are four times more likely than their peers to drop out of school.

Read 2 Succeed’s mission is to close the race-based opportunity gap through community-powered literacy programming that engages children, families, and community partners.

By becoming a Read 2 Succeed (R2S) volunteer reading tutor, you can impact a child’s life. R2S is looking for dedicated volunteers who are available to build a lasting relationship with a K-5 student for the entire school year, meeting with them twice a week either during or after school.

Our volunteers understand the role of community-powered literacy in Asheville and Buncombe County and believe in all students’ innate ability to learn and grow as a reader.

Trainings will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, and Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. via Zoom.
