Gamma Gamma Omega Invites Members to Celebrate Founders’ Day and Reengage

Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha are invited to celebrate in unity and sisterhood.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®—the nation’s first Greek-letter organization founded by African American women—continues to strengthen its legacy of service, scholarship, and sisterhood in Western North Carolina.

The Gamma Gamma Omega Chapter warmly invites members of Alpha Kappa Alpha across the region to reconnect, participate, and celebrate during the chapter’s upcoming Founders’ Day observance and ongoing service initiatives.

Founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University, Alpha Kappa Alpha has remained steadfast in its mission of Service to All Mankind for more than a century. Locally, the Gamma Gamma Omega Chapter has proudly served the mountain region since its chartering in 1940, uplifting communities through programs focused on education, health, economic empowerment, civic engagement, and cultural enrichment.

Founders’ Day Celebration

This year’s Founders’ Day celebration will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, beginning with worship at Pine Grove Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., where Rev. Leslie Hines is the Pastor. Immediately following the service, members will gather for fellowship and lunch beginning at 1 p.m. at Stoneridge Tavern Restaurant. Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha are invited to join the scheduled events and celebrate in unity and sisterhood.

Featured Guest Speaker: Dr. Meg Gibson

The chapter is honored to welcome Dr. Meg Gibson, author, leadership strategist, and former President of Rho Psi Omega Chapter in Charlotte, as the featured guest speaker.

Dr. Gibson is the founder of True Choices Consulting, LLC, where she helps organizations and individuals strengthen leadership, workplace culture, and personal branding. With more than two decades of experience across higher education, government, and organizational development, she is widely recognized as a dynamic speaker who empowers women to lead with authenticity, confidence, and purpose.

Holding a doctorate in Organizational Leadership, Dr. Gibson specializes in conflict analysis, mediation, and negotiation and is known for helping leaders align people, processes, and strategy for meaningful impact. Originally from the Bahamas and now residing in Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. Gibson blends professional expertise with a powerful personal story of resilience and growth, inspiring audiences to rise by owning their truth.

Gamma Gamma Omega continues to experience a season of renewed energy, strengthened programming, and growing community impact.
