Aging in Place

Housing Choices and Our Community.

What does it take to age in place in our community?

Join a conversation about housing, aging in place, and intergenerational living in Asheville. The program will begin with a brief, guided discussion centered on residents’ lived experiences and perspectives.

City of Asheville staff and Planning and Zoning Commission chair will then share an overview of recent housing policy changes — including updates related to accessory dwelling units (ADUs) — and discuss what may be coming next. Participants will have time for questions and discussion.

Resources will also be available for those who want to learn more about property tax relief options, reassessment timelines, and the appeals process.

Join us on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Linwood Crump Shiloh Community Center, 121 Shiloh Road in Asheville.
