Back in the day folks who cared for us would say, “You have to be twice as smart as the next person, because you are African or Negro.”

This sentiment were framed by the cultural biases they had experienced.

African American scholars such as W. E. B. DuBois, the first African American in the world to earn a Ph.D. in history said, “Strive for the greatness of sprit that measures life not by its disappointments—but by its possibilities.”

James Brown, whose musical talents confirmed messages from our loved ones, sang, “Say it Loud, I’m Black and I’m proud!” Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire sang, “We are people of the Mighty/Mighty people of the Sun/In our hearts lie all the answers/To the truth you can’t run from.”

They all taught a single message; and the message was, “Yes, you are black; yes, you are beautiful; and yes, you are capable.” African American elders made those statements because they knew our potential was beyond measure if given the opportunities. They told us the truth … so own it!

We thrive in areas where we are given an opportunity to be innovative and creative. You are from a lineage of originators! Keep the Faith and Sing your Truth(s)! Act with passion and show the world what you are working with. Focus on the divine provenance for which you were created. Nothing can stop you when you operate in your anointing.

This is a simple call to action to endure to the end.

You don’t have to be great to get started, but you do have to get started to become great!
Answer the call!
