Rollinson Celebrates 101st Birthday
Mrs. Pauline Rollison celebrated her 101st birthday on April 28 with a dinner party at 131 Main restaurant hosted by family members, friends, and her beloved pastor Dr. Charles R. Mosley. Mrs. Rollison has been an active member of Nazareth First Baptist Church since the age of 12, and has been bestowed the title of “Church Mother.”
Pauline was married to the late James Roosevelt Baten, Sr. in 1931, and they became the parents of four children: Cora B. Harper and Nina Baten of Asheville and the late James R. Baten and Sadie B. Bonner. Widowed in 1953, she later married Isaac Rollinson Rollinson and was widowed again.
Mrs. Rollinson continues to serve her church faithfully, where she attends Sunday services and Bible Studies and actively participates in the Trustee, Missionary, and Deaconess Ministries. She is still active in several clubs and organizations, as well; she has volunteered at several Billy Graham crusades, and is a member of Church Women United. She is also a Charter Member of Zeta Phi Beta Amicae, a Life Member of the NAACP, and a member of Federated Ladies and the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks. The Elks have recognized her as the longest-serving chaplain in the State of North Carolina.
Last year Mrs. Rollinson’s centennial birthday was honored by birthday greetings from President Barack Obama, Governor Beverly Perdue, and the Reverend Billy Graham. She also received a proclamation from the City of Asheville from Mayor Terry Bellamy and many more dignitaries, family, friends, and well-wishers.
We Love You, Mother Rollinson! Happy Belated Birthday!
