Nominations for Asheville’s Living Treasures
Staff Reports
Asheville Living Treasures, a recently formed organization established to honor local citizens who have dedicated themselves to improving the quality of life in Asheville, has opened the process of receiving nominations.
The first three Living Treasures will be honored at a public ceremony Sunday, May 22, 2011, in the chapel of the historic First Baptist Church on Oak Street downtown. During the ceremony, families and friends of the three selected Asheville Living Treasures will be invited to share stories and reminiscences of these wonderful elders with the community.
Each honoree will be presented with a certificate signifying their
Living Treasure status. All will be interviewed by members of the
committee prior to the ceremony, creating an oral history and
photographic archive of these outstanding citizens.
Nominations from Asheville and Buncombe County are being accepted
throughout the month of March. Letters of Nomination may be sent by
email to [email protected] or by mail to Carol Kessler,
152 Edwin Place, Asheville, NC 28801.
If you have questions, or would like to participate as a committee member, please phone (828) 505-7259 or (828) 298-2231.
