A ceremonial ribbon-cutting marked the grand opening of The Artisan Coffee/Wine Bar, a unique family-owned venture in Black Mountain whose offerings range from cappuccino to cabernet.

The combination coffeehouse and wine bar, located just off Highway 9 in Black Mountain in the Village of Cheshire, features the work of local artists on its walls and shelves. It offers customers a creative environment in which to enjoy freshly roasted Fair Trade coffees, specialty drinks, organic grinds and teas, and a variety of desserts and home-baked pastries. The menu also includes gourmet and made-to-order sandwiches featuring Boar’s Head meats, as well as soups, salads, and a variety of world-class appetizers.

The wine bar serves an array of domestic and international wines,
available by the glass or bottle, and an assortment of beer completes
the menu, including several locally brewed choices.

Owners Kurt and Emily Burritt have worked in specialty foods for
more than twenty years. “Weaving together the complementary cultures of
coffee, wine, and art is what gives The Artisan its distinctive
character,” says Emily. “The Artisan is about creativity and quality,
from the sensory experience — the smell of freshly brewed coffee and the
visual appeal of local artwork on the walls — to the experience of
sampling gourmet foods and relaxing by the fireplace with a glass of
wine.”

The Artisan Coffee &Wine Bar is open Monday–Wednesday 7 a.m.
to 7 p.m., Thursday–Saturday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 2
