Shaw University recently celebrated it’s annual Shaw University Day on Sunday, May 23, 2010. Shaw University was founded in 1865. In 1875, the University was chartered as The Shaw University by an Act of the North Carolina General Assembly.
The University is church-related, having remained affiliated with the Baptist church throughout its history. Through its College of Adult and Professional Education (CAPE), Shaw University offers a flexible way for people with full-time demanding work schedules to obtain an undergraduate degree. The University delivers its educational program beyond the confines of the residential college community through nine extramural sites in North Carolina.
