The Asheville Chapter of The Links recently awarded academic college scholarships to five area youth at a dinner given in their honor. Member of the Asheville-Links Scholarship Committee are: Diane Mance, President of Asheville-Links Inc., Dr. Janet Bowman, Carol Goins, Esq., Denise Miller, Gloria Gilliam, and Willie Vincent.
“We are very proud of these students,” said Mrs. Mance in awarding the scholarships, and noting that the Asheville Links are eager to help develop future leaders by helping them lay the foundation for success. “We have followed and mentored these students, and notice how they have excelled academically in school. We want them to be equally successful throughout their college years and their chosen careers.”
Since its founding in 1946, The Links, Incorporated has lived by the
motto “World Class Leadership, Friendship, and Service.” Its members are
influential decision-makers and opinion leaders, women of distinction
for their individual achievements and for the difference they make in
their communities. They are business and civic leaders, role models,
mentors, activists and volunteers who work towards a common vision by
engaging like-minded organizations and individuals for partnership.
Links members contribute more than 500,000 documented hours of community
service annually, strengthening their communities and enhancing the
nation. The organization is the recipient of awards from the UN
Association of New York and the Leon H. Sullivan Foundation for its
premier programs.
