APD Seeks Dog Owners in Bite Incidents

The APD Animal Services Unit is seeking the public’s help to locate dog owners in two recent bite incidents.

On June 25, around 12:30 p.m., at 5 Oak St. downtown (near First Baptist Church), a German Shepherd-type dog of about 40-50 lbs. was tied to a tree and bit a child who came near. The dog, whose name is believed to be “Fluppy,” was black and tan colored, with white fur on its chest. The dog’s owner was described as a white male, about 5’4”, with dreadlocked hair.

On June 28, at 4 p.m. at 83 S. Tunnel Road (between Best Buy and Bed
Bath & Beyond), a dog described as either a Labrador or a Pit Bull
mix was tied to the bike rack and bit a person who came near. The dog
was about 50 lbs., had white or cream colored fur, floppy ears, and was
wearing a collar. The victim was unable to locate the dog’s owner and
the dog was gone when the victim returned to site after treating his
wound.

The Animal Services Unit wants to locate the owners to verify
the dogs’ vaccination status and to take the necessary steps to protect
those bitten against the rabies virus. Anyone with information on how
