Meals & Supply Distribution; Non-Potable Water; Free Gasoline; Oxygen Refilling Stations

The City of Asheville is providing important information about Tropical Storm Helene response efforts through AVL Alert. Sign up at ashevillenc.gov/avlalert to receive notifications in emergency and non-emergency events.

YMCA Relief & Recovery Assistance

The downtown Asheville YMCA is distributing food and essential relief items to the public outdoors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. WiFi and charging available. Free YMCA of WNC Community Healthmobile food market at 12 p.m. today, October 8.

The Y in Marion is open to the public from 2-6 p.m. daily for hot showers, WiFi, and charging. This location is also a relief distribution site and emergency shelter.

The Reuter Y in Biltmore Park is open to the public from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. for hot showers, charging, and WiFi. The gymnasium is open for basketball and general play. The youth lounge and playground are open (parental supervision required). Also distributing food and relief supplies.

The Woodfin Y is now open to members from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with showers, fitness center, childcare, WiFi, charging, and work stations. Please bring your own drinking water.

YMCA of WNC Community Health Mobile Food Markets
– Tuesday, Oct. 8: Asheville YMCA, 12 p.m.
– Wednesday, Oct. 9: Ferguson Family YMCA in Candler, 12 p.m.
– Thursday, Oct. 10: Reuter Family YMCA in Biltmore Park, 12 p.m.

The Red Cross will be giving out meals in the following Ingles parking lots everyday for the rest of this week beginning at 1 p.m. each day. 500 meals are available at each location per day.

Hurricane Helene Relief Supply Distribution

The French Broad Baptist Association has scheduled distributions from October 7 to October 13, 2024 at the following locations:

  • Vision Baptist Church, Monday-Saturday from 1-5
  • Upper Laurel, Tuesdays & Thursdays 12-5:30; Saturday 8-12
  • Locust Grove Baptist Church, Tuesday 2-6; Saturday 10-2
  • California Creek Baptist Church, Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 10-4; Saturday 10-4
  • Enon Baptist Church, Tuesday & Thursday 12-4; Saturday 9-12
  • Bethel Baptist Church. 7 days a week 9-5
  • Little Ivy Baptist Church, Monday-Friday 9-7; for weekend hours go to littleivybaptist.com.

Manna Foodbank is distributing food at the WNC Farmers Market, 570 Brevard Road in Asheville Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until October 11. Parking lot to the left, just past Jesse Israel Nursery. They are accepting donations at 99 Broadpointe Dr. in Mills River, NC 28759 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Non-potable water (grey water) for flushing toilets is now available at all County and City distribution sites:

Free Gasoline

The Sun Coast Fuel Relief Fund truck will be in Black Mountain today giving away FREE gasoline from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 8, 2024. There is a 15 gallon limit. They will fill your vehicle and gas cans. The tanker is located at the WNC Shopping Center, Hwy 70 in Black Mountain.

Food and water distribution locations in Asheville continue to provide bulk toilet flushing water in addition to drinking water. Drinking water is provided in bottles. The public will need to bring their own containers for flushing water.

Free Hot Lunches! Thanks to the amazing support of World Central Kitchen, Hands On! Children’s Museum is serving 100 free hot lunches from 12 noon until 2 p.m., October 8 until October 12, to children and adults while supplies last. 318 North Main Street in Hendersonville.

Both the City of Asheville and Buncombe County are waiving fees related to emergency repairs. Visit buncombecounty.org/permits or develop.ashevillenc.gov to learn more. The Buncombe County Permits office at 30 Valley St. is open.
