Goombay Postponed

The YMI’s Grand Re-Opening, originally scheduled for September 26, 2024, and the Goombay Festival, planned for the weekend of September 27-29, 2024, have been postponed due to the State of Emergency declared by Governor Roy Cooper.

The National Weather Service is forecasting life-threatening flooding, damaging winds, and mudslides, with up to 10 inches of rain expected in Buncombe County. In response, the City of Asheville has canceled permits for events on City-owned property scheduled from September 26 to 29.

Both events will be rescheduled.
