What is a CORE Employee? FEMA’s cadre of on-call recovery employees are temporary staff hired for two to four years at a time, and may be extended. These staff will be part of the longer-term recovery efforts throughout North Carolina from Tropical Storm Helene.

FEMA’s mission is helping people before, during, and after disasters. All applicants must be U.S. citizens, 18 years of age or older, and possess a high school diploma or GED. Individuals will be required to pass a background investigation that includes finger printing and credit check. FEMA employees are required to participate in mandatory direct deposit/electronic funds transfer for pay.
