Black Asheville Town Halls
Local area residents participated in three events held in Asheville at the YMI.
Hosted at the historic YMI Cultural Center, the series centers Black voters while welcoming the broader Asheville and Buncombe County community.
The public forums were created to foster direct, accountable dialogue between candidates for elected office and the communities they seek to represent. Each evening featured candidates running for office, offering voters the opportunity to hear directly from those seeking to represent Western North Carolina at the federal level.
This moderated town hall will focus on the issues shaping life across the district, including healthcare access, housing affordability, economic opportunity, public safety, education, infrastructure, and the role of federal government in supporting local communities.
The series is designed to prioritize clarity, accessibility, and comparability. Each candidate will be given equal time and asked the same questions, ensuring a fair and transparent forum that allows voters to leave informed and confident in their choices.
