Voting Scams: A Notice to Asheville Residents
BEWARE of people handing out fake ballots for the 2024 General Election.
Reports have come in that unknown operatives are distributing FAKE BALLOTS in Asheville public housing communities.
DO NOT USE THEM!
If you are a registered voter, you can vote ONLY in the following ways:
- Early Voting at any of the early voting locations listed in this article, “Voting Information Update” (you can register and vote at the same time during Early Voting, Oct. 17-Nov. 2)
- By requesting and receiving an absentee ballot, which you then fill out, have witnessed, and return to the Board of Elections in the process specified in this article, “Voting Information Update”
- At your precinct’s polling place on Election Day (if you are not registered, or your registration cannot be confirmed at the polling place, you may cast a “PROVISIONAL BALLOT”)
Do not let strangers interfere with your right to vote by giving you fake ballots or false information. It’s a felony for them to do so, and it could keep you from casting a legitimate ballot if you fall for the scam!
Don’t waste your vote! Be vigilant and BEWARE!
