Sen. Cory Booker Praises Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson
“You have earned this spot. You are worthy. You are a great American.”
Sen. Cory Booker spoke to Judge Jackson, saying that despite criticism from the committee, “You’re here, and I know what it’s taken for you to sit in that seat.”
During his 20-minute allotted time to question Judge Jackson on the final day of the nominee’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Booker chose instead to praise Jackson after she faced a series of exhausting questioning from Republican Senators.

While listening to Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) speak, Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s eyes filled with tears.
Judge Jackson said when she first got to Harvard she was feeling homesick and questioning whether she belonged. Then one day as she was walking through campus, a black woman who she did not know leaned in and said to her, “Persevere.”
