Serve on the Planning & Zoning Commission Advisory Board

we love volunteersThe City of Asheville has vacancies on the Planning and Zoning Commission and is actively seeking city residents to serve.

The Commission is an advisory board to City Council. For the most part, the Commission’s crucial role is to advise and make recommendations to City Council about the future direction of Asheville’s growth and how it will affect its neighborhoods, transportation, and people.

Specific responsibilities:

  • review proposed amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), and zoning proposals and zoning changes;
  • study the future development of the City’s land use, population, traffic, parking, and redevelopment needs;
  • formulate and recommend new and amended plans for the city and its environs;
  • review the terms of the UDO;
  • review applications for planned developments and their plans, as well as
  • review and approve or disapprove preliminary plats of major subdivisions.

The deadline for receiving applications is Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 5 p.m.
